Genoa is coming from a game played against Milan, away from home, where the hosts tried to dominate the game from the early start being much more aggressive, but Genoa was defending more than well and was very creative on counter attacks. However, tragic defensive mistake in 77th minute cost them of a well earned point (till then) and El Shaarawy scored the winning goal for hosts.

Home team will miss their captain and right winger Bosko Jankovic, while other absentees are striker Borriello, midfielders Vargas, Rossi and Anselmo and defender Ferronetti. Serious missing, but only Borriello and Jankovic had bigger impact this season.
Fiorentina, on the other side, is coming from a 2:0 home win over Lazio. A deserved win, but at the same time they were a bit lucky as Lazio pressed a lot in the second half-time and just when it looked like they will make something, they have received a red carded that totally turned everything to Viola’s side. Later on, Luca Toni secured the victory near the end of the game when the guests already played with nine men only.
With nine matches played, they currently occupy fifth position and with a possible win here, they would get much closer to the Champions League positions, which could be their target if they continue playing in a good style. Guests have no fresh injuries in front of the game, with talented central defender Camporese being the only absentee.
Both teams are in need of a victory here and surely an open game is expected here. Viola is surely a slight favorite to get out with all three points, but Genoa already used to playing without the players they will miss tonight. Surely hosts won’t sit back and wait for their chances to come at home, under these circumstances both to score seems like the most logical choice as Fiorentina wasn’t that impressive on the road till now.
